Liam Drew

Bio

Liam Drew is a freelance journalist and science writer, specialising in neuroscience and biomedical research. He has a BSc and PhD in neuroscience from the University of Nottingham and University College London, respectively. After doing postdoctoral research at Columbia University, New York, Liam became a fulltime writer and journalist. In 2017, he published I, Mammal: The Story of What Makes Us Mammals. He is a regulator contributor to Nature and its sister journals. He has also written for The Guardian, The Independent, Slate, Knowable, Quanta, Aeon, BBC Wildlife and Readers Digest.

In 2020, he won the Association of British Science Writers’ Engineering/Technology Story of the Year award, and in 2021, he authored The Brain Book – an introduction to the brain for 5 to 9-year-olds.
