Scientific Glass Blower

Prominent Fluid Controls Ltd. is currently seeking to recruit a Scientific Glass Blower within their Probes section to join their team.  

The selected candidate will act as the point of reference on all glass work processes taking place within the glass-based sensors production department.  

The selected candidate will be:

• Acting as the Glass expert within the company when coming to consider any technical matters related to glass based sensors.
• Acting as a liaising officer with R&D and directly contributing from a glass work perspective, to develop new and improved products and optimise design for manufacture;
• Evaluating and identifying measures to ensure glass work process stability and stable product quality, particularly in relation to glass work, including the use of automated glass work processes;
• Contributing towards improving productivity objectives through the application of efficient and effective glass work production processes, and using mechanised processes where possible;
• Identifying new technological developments and facilitating their possible introduction into the company’s glasswork and related production processes; and,
• Supporting the Management in the administration of the glass sensors’ production department.    

The selected candidate will:

• Have been formally trained in scientific glass blowing;
• Have a minimum of five years’ working experience in scientific glass blowing;
• Have experience related to an industrial setup and ideally have a glass chemistry background; and,
• Have good written and verbal communication skills in English, although the company is willing to provide training support if necessary.
• Be willing to relocate to Malta and to travel internationally for business purposes, in particular to the parent company in Germany.
